Hi

We own a single engine ISIS 5000 32 TB.(connected using 10GBe to the switch)

We have just purchsed an expension engine (ISIS 5000 32 TB also) and we want to add that expension engine to the main system director.

We have the 10GBe module in the Force10 S25 switch, and we have all the XFP needed for the connection to be made.

Is there any user guide on the process of adding a second engine to the main system director?

We are running version 4.0.0.55 on the system director.

except for the price, can somebody give us a more compelling reason why shouldn't we migrate to a MOTU HDX-SDI rather than using a MOJO DX. We are in the current versions of Interplay and ISIS 7000 and 5000s, with MC ver 6.5.2   Insights and suggestion please.

Hello. Was wondering if anybody had any experience adding a 4 port nic card to an isis 5000 chassis? We currently have 4 clients direct connected to the isis 5000 via the onboard nic card. What i want to do is add another nic card to the chasis to get 4 more ports. is this possible? I was told that all we would need was a INTEL QUAD PORT Ethernet NIC i340, is that correct? I have no budget and no use for a force 10 switch as i only need to add a few more clients. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello everyone,

We have 3 MacPro Media Composers running ver. 4.0.5 and one PC Media Composer running ver. 3.5. All of them are linked together with a Unity running ver. 5.1.3. Everything's running OK, except a former employee gave "his" Avid (the PC) a persoonalized name. The Macs are named Avid 1,2, & 4. We'd like to rename the PC to "Avid 3". There's also a fourth Mac called "Graphics" if that menas anything; there's no Avid application associated with that one, though.

I'm not exactly sure how to do this, and also unsure as to any consequences that might arise with the Unity, etc. if we do actually rename the PC Avid. I'd appreciate any input from folks experienced in the ways of Unity.

Hello all-

This issue has been discussed before, but it appears that it's still not fixed:

Multi-layer PSD (Photoshop) files stored on Isis 5000 (version 4.2) import into Final Cut Pro 7.0.3 as a flattened image, while the same file stored on the local file system (Desktop, etc.) imports correctly as a multi-layer sequence.

Can anyone else confirm this behavior?

Is there a fix in the works? Will there even be a fix given FCP 7's EOL status?

As an aside, can anyone from Avid explain this behavior on a technical level? How is Isis storage identified differently by Final Cut Pro? What is the mechanism for this?

(Possibly an ISIS thread but I'll start here)

We've got about 25 workstations connected to an ISIS engine by ethernet.

We've had some problems of late with different user profile and different machines causing students headaches. They constantly complain about edits being old or having bins locked or bits missing.

What we are experienceing is that each time a person opens a project - after the initial creation, which puts everything on the root of their ISIS partition - is that on another workstaion a folder is created with that machines name and then a project of the same name appears in there. If they work on say 10 machines their ISIS drive fills up with all these workstation folders and the project becomes a mess as it's not easy to ascertain from the workstation folders which one is which and what the last one they worked on was. So it's easy to open an old one and think your edit has gone. We've also had incidents of workstations inside workstations so you have 2,3 levels of folders with more duplication of projects tec. All very confusing?

Is there any definitive way to try and minimise this? Why does Avid keep making these folders yet in the first instance just places them on the root of their partition? Where do the students need to point their folder at the app startup - the most recent workstation name? How do you know if it's the latest one from the open project dialogue box?

So we've had an editshare set up for a few years now between two PCs with a Nitris & an Express running MC 5.5.  

Recently when I had both systems up and running I noticed that the Express machine wasn't seeing the Nitris.  Normally each bin has that lock/unlocked icon but the Express doesn't have that now.  The lock icon on the Nitris  stays green for unlocked whether or not the Express has the same bin open.  If I close and save a bin on the Express, the Nitris bins update, so they're still linked it seems.  The Express also still connects fine to the Editshare drives.

I was looking for a quick fix and in the Editshare Connect app under Avid Management you're supposed to show Editshare where your avid app is, so I clicked remove Avid App, then re-linked it again.  But now MC won't open at all, and I seem to have broken something.  Odd thing is that the Nitris system does not have the Avid App linked but it seems to be running fine.

Unfortunately I found out that my support contract ran out a few months ago when I tried calling Editshare.

I've tried to install and after restarting i get the following message: 

The procedure entry point MiniDumpWriteDump could not be located in the dynamic link library dbghelp dll

I am getting a weird error on a couple of projects when connecting to isis space, where the project and save files live. 

this error only happens when trying to acces a project siting on the ISIS
