Hi All

Our DS 10.3 has started dropping frames on playout to SR, i have attached a different raid and it is doing the same thing, any pointers as to what might be the cause, I have changed the SFP on the 41 ES and reseated all cards in the bob and the 8400. Also on ingest it gives a HAL error which I guess is a result of the same problem  ?

Hi,

Lets say that you color corect a sequence cut on MC in DS . Then they make some changes in ofline and now you have a  different edit.

How can you use the first CC made on the first cut on the second one? The grades can be merged in DS ?

I recently downloaded the DS V.11 30 day trial which has now run out.  I then received an email from Avid telling me;

"

• Turn your trial into a "Training Edition" and perfect your skills**

** To turn your trial into a "Training Edition" that you can use indefinitely, click the "Training Edition" link above to download the Avid DS License Manager and use it to remove your trial license. You will then be able to use your Avid DS software as a Training Edition. Please note that exporting and output are disabled in the Training Edition."

I downloaded the License Manager and entered the dongle-ID that was generated for my trial.  Clicked "Clear Licenses" on the license manager and a pop up appeared saying "The Licenses were successfully cleared from the database.". 

Now I open DS, which now says "Training Edition" on the splash screen and get the error message; "License verification failed.".  DS then closes.

What do I need to do here to make this work?

So, I've got some AMA files I need to bring into DS from Media Composer. I open the files in Media Composer just fine. The files have their original timecode and everything. Then I try to send to DS via an AAF (consolidating the media and transcoding it to DNX 145). The file comes into DS just fine. Everything is great, except the timecode always starts at 0:00:00:00. Am I missing something?

I did this same thing about a year ago and the timecode came over fine, so I'm thinking maybe I have forgotten a step or am doing one step differently than I am supposed to. Any ideas?

I recently updated to Avid DS 11 and discovered when trying to reinstall Keylight that it is no longer compatible.  I wrote to the Foundry support team and was told -

"Unfortunately there are no plans at present to develop a native DS version of Keylight for DS 11. Our Plug-ins team have looked into this and unfortunately there isn't enough demand at present for it to be cost effective for us to develop with the engineering resources we have."

They did suggest a untested and "completely unsupported" workaround using the OFX plug in which may or may not work and would require me buying the Nuke OFX version!

This brings up several issues.

Firstly I'll find it hard to invest in any Foundry products in the future given their attitude to their existing users.  This is the second time they've dumped a plugin that my company has invested in.

Secondly it's worrying that they think the DS, as a platform is not worth supporting.  Keylight is available for Autodesk products, After Effects, Nuke, Fusion, etc

Thirdly, as the standard DS chroma keyer is quite basic what third party keyer would the forum recommend as a replacement?

Has recently finally updated to version 11.0.2 (from 10.5.0)
and made a very nice discovery when I linked a multi-"soundtrack"
Quicktime (not just multiple audio channels in ONE soundtrack)
and realised that all the audio channels turned up on the DS timeline.

Not that it matters, but I haven't found it noted in any release notes,
and I'm just curious to when this was fixed?

This tutorial address DS inability to notch contigous clips that were not capured via tape capture, i.e. file based imports or "live" video captures.

Is there a document that explains 'legacy graphics' import? It seems to be matching up with some 709 444 files I have but it would be nice to know a little more about what is going on there. The manual has a nice bit describing which import settings will remap head to full ranges but then I have not yet found out more about legacy graphics and why it actually appears to be one of the mostuseful settings.

Did I miss any NAB announcements or DS releases? or is there a scary silence on DS development?

Is MC v6.5.2.1 approved for use with DS v11.0.2?
